Well been a busy week since the new addition. Been mostly getting birds in the wash over the week but did finish these guys out and took some pics this morning.
I've got a mallard in the freezer from the resent season and I want to mount it myself. I want to start mounting my own birds. I bought a kit but it doesnt come with a head. Would it make my life easier to buy a head for it or use the birds skull. This is my first bird I have ever tried mounting.

Each year go on a father-son hunt, last few years have been in Nebraska chasing grouse. Didn't get any sharptails the year prior but got some nice ones from the past trip :getdown: And got the mighty coot mounted up and added to the now finished gallinule base.

Does anyone do their own taxidermy at home? I have a few friends who do that have given me some good tips, but i'm not sure if I want to go down that road and make the investment necessary. Thoughts???
I was snorkeling this weekend and found an 7-point whitetail skull. I want to clean it up and possibly make my own European mount. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to clean it up. Mostly, tips on removing all of the algae and stuff inside the skull without ruining it.
Here is a pintail I just got back. I think it turned out well. I was trying to think of a pose that was a little different and still show off the colors and pin of the bird.. I went with this flushing pose.
